Mid - Late XIXth Century valance pelmet - Textile - 1.1 m - 23 cm

I found this beautiful valance, pelmet in
a room of a chateau, still attached to a piece of wood to a window
and totally abandoned with the entire contents of the room removed,
almost saying " why do not you give me a new home".
Thus I carefully undid the piece from its nails it was still
suspended from and once home examined it and turned out a
beautiful small pelmet for somebody to love again.
For its age it is in excellent condition considering it probably
has been hanging there for most of its life, unloved.
The design and carefully selected colour co ordination,
particularly of the roses, with the petit point embroidery is superb.
And the black contrast to frame the piece sets it off perfectly.
It still has the original lining which is in good condition and not shredded.
With the right colour curtains it would make a excellent statement or
alternatively as a decorative pelmet to highlight an object.
