Description from the seller
Diesis sofa by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia
A synthesis of innovative technology and sophisticated craftsmanship, the Diesis sofa has become an essential element in the history of design.
The details that distinguish Diesis and the technology of materials make it a product capable of meeting the most refined international tastes, designed to last over time. Comfort is guaranteed by the soft padding.
The piece presented at auction is distinguished by its precisely defined metallic supporting structure, complemented by a seat, backrest, and armrests in the form of soft cushions padded with shaped polyurethane foam and sterilized feathers, all covered in leather.
The steel comb-backrest, covered in leather, the parts made of die-cast aluminum, and the microperforated leather for ventilation—later becoming a distinctive and decorative element—demonstrate meticulous attention to the product and its strong personality.
The utmost elegance even from the back, thanks to the leather upholstery of the backrest, makes it suitable for placement even in the center of the room.
Its excellent condition guarantees a purchase of great value. The black leather upholstery is intact, with no seams, cuts, or scratches, and with its aged patina, it tells a story of quality and authenticity. This leather, soft and rich in shades, gains a unique charm over time, aging gracefully.
The sofa has been professionally cleaned and sanitized. We also carried out a thorough cleaning and treated the leather with specific products to nourish it and preserve its extraordinary beauty.

The producer
Born from the entrepreneurial vision of Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, B&B Italia, founded in 1966, has built its success on the ability to represent contemporary culture through design and to anticipate trends, in a constant effort to respond to the evolution of taste and living needs.
In 1966, Piero Ambrogio Busnelli founded C&B (a joint venture between Cassina and Busnelli).
In the same year, the Coronado project became one of the cornerstones of the research conducted by Afra and Tobia Scarpa. It was born from the idea of combining a steel frame with the revolutionary technology of cold foam polyurethane in molds, introduced by B&B Italia in the furniture sector.
In 1973, Busnelli acquired the shares of Cassina and changed the company's name to B&B Italia, and in 1975, he founded Maxalto, for which Antonio Citterio would later become the sole designer and creative director.
The following year, B&B Italia opened its first single-brand store in New York, and in 1979, it made its debut in Asian markets with the opening of B&B Italia Japan.
In the 1980s, the company won no less than four Golden Compass awards.
Since the 2000s, B&B Italia has made a substantial technological investment in renewing its foaming plant for the production of upholstery and has acquired Arclinea and Azucena.
Since December 2018, B&B Italia has been part of Flos B&B Italia Group, a world-leading group in high-end design that manages a series of historic brands in the world of luxury furniture and lighting. A true European cultural heritage.
