Description from the seller
This is a very interesting photograph taken in China in 1963, perhaps by the well-known English photographer and writer John Massey-Stewart, who is especially known for his reports and books on Russia. He authored the book comparing Chinese communism and Russian communism, titled 'Behind the Curtains--Bamboo and Iron'.
This image depicts Mao Zedong surrounded by the Red Guards and Chinese citizens cheering him, and the photo is an original from 1963, published in a famous Italian magazine in 1967. It is accompanied by its original negative; in fact, the photo was printed 'contact' style, measuring 10x15cm, the same size as the negative. Therefore, it is a medium-small photograph, with the original negative being large-sized.
The photo also features a very interesting description of the era, written in English, typed on the back of the photograph itself.
Excellent overall condition
