Rampspoedige Scheeps-togt van den Heere Gallonye is a translated Dutch edition (1706) of Gallonye’s travel narrative, published by Pieter van der Aa in Leiden, in a soft cover with 65 pages and two fold-out plates, in Dutch, covering Africa, Europe, history and ships and seafaring.
Description from the seller
Rapid naval voyage of Lord Gallonye from France to the island of Saint Kitts; and his four years of slavery under the barbarous Turks and Jews in Salé, Africa, from the year 1670 until his liberation.
Boekje was translated from French into Low German in 1706.
The 'Disastrous voyage of Mr. Gallonye' refers to Jean Gallonye's unfortunate sea journey from France to the island of Saint Christopher in 1670, during which he endured four years of slavery under barbaric Turks and Jews in Salé (Morocco), as described in a famous 17th-century travel account.
The book is bound in a sloppy light green paper cover, probably original. There are two fold-out images (see photos) in the booklet. The publication is part of a series of travel reports published by van der Aa in 1706-1707.
The book is complete and in good condition.
