Where Are You Street Art?
Why, where are you, Street Art? Why? Because we wonder where it has gone, where the concept behind it has gone, we ask ourselves this very question given the constant changes this type of artistic expression has undergone in the last decade.
Street Art has lost its true nature, its habitat, the street.
From being the undisputed art of alleys, suburbs, and abandoned areas, Street Art is now becoming a protagonist in much "cleaner" and more traditional places, locations that were unthinkable for street art until a few years ago.
Street art now reigns supreme in galleries, museums, and homes. We can buy and sell it, touch it, and savor it much more easily than before. The street is no longer the primary, necessary condition for enjoying it.
That said, having analyzed the recent history of Street Art, can we still define it as such?
Probably not.
