Description from the seller
GREAT OPPORTUNITY to purchase this wonderful book by GERMAN CULT PHOTOGRAPHER Juergen Teller, well-known for many fantastic photobooks like 'Go-Sees' or 'Tracht' - in BRANDNEW CONDITION.
The hard-driving German photo-based artist Juergen Teller's 50th-birthday present to himself was a stay at a European rehabilitation facility. His raw, diaristic images from that stay, presented with a metallic cover in a zine-like format from CFA, Berlin, are intermixed with historical family photographs taken by Teller's father, who
had committed suicide when he was young. A brief essay by curator Francesco Bonami explores Teller's method of dramaturgical shooting as a way of creating a dramatic and sometimes comedic distance between himself and the viewer. In this way, Teller the subject of many of his own images suggests that what we are seeing is not real, but a way someone is experiencing the real. Juergen Teller's work in books, magazines or exhibitions, and often in collaboration with fashion houses and designers, is marked by his refusal to separate his commercial fashion imagery from his autobiographical, uncommissioned images.
New, mint, unread; still originally shrink-wrapped in publisher's plastic foil.

'The Clinic – more than just self-experiment.
Carefully designed in accordance with Juergen Teller, the booklet 'The Clinic' combines two distinguishing levels of his work: the private sphere is always touched upon, and the artist always introduces his photography on photography thematically in a very precise way. Francesco Bonami notes this in his accompanying text: 'Juergen Teller creates comedy and drama at the same time, and the result is some kind of fiction. Quite often Teller appears in the picture, becoming the subject, the main character, and admits a second voice or gaze into the narrative, suggesting that what we see is not entirely what he sees. Creating distance is a very theatrical strategy to allow the spectator to be aware of his or her own presence and participation in the artist’s play.' Francesco Bonami’s creed regarding Juergen Teller’s photography mentions accordingly: 'I think that whoever experiences a miracle must have some premonition or better early feelings of it. I believe that is what happens to Juergen Teller day after day. His pictures are all signs of potential miracles. Like at a miracle site, people do not allow disappointment or despair but focus on each moment, just in case that could be the exact moment when the miracle will happen. The miracle maybe is just in every moment – that’s why we miss it or cannot see it. In each of Teller’s images we have the same feeling. We don’t despair or get disappointed because maybe that’s exactly it.'
