Hermés Scarf Square 'The Geographer'

This square takes its name from the corvette commanded by Nicolas Baudin and sent by Bonaparte, then consul, in recognition of Captain Cook's southern lands. At the four corners of the square are depicted Charles Alexandre Lesueur, the expedition's painter; Matthew Flinders, the English captain who encountered the mission; François Péron, the zoologist; and Nicolas Baudin himself, who died in 1803 during the return.

Rare and sought after by collectors.

Edited in 1992, re-edited in 1995.
