The work in question was born from a need to deal with the topic of "divinity".
The gods and their manifestations, belonging to both the Greek pantheon and the Christian and Middle Eastern traditions, have not completely abandoned modern man, in a more evanescent way, they still reveal themselves to us, they communicate through ever-present myths and legends, they are still part of our profound interiority.
The simulacra I photographed, using this technique that harks back to the dawn of photography, well represent the idea emerging as archetypes from our unconscious.

The simulacra photographed by me, with this technique that recalls the dawn of photography, represent the idea well, emerging as archetypes from our unconscious.

Tommaso Grella was born in Roccapiemonte on October 29, 1973. At a very young age he devoted himself to art and reportage photography.
His works, both photographic and pictorial, are exhibited in various shows at the diocesan Caritas of Salerno.
Founder of the "Bianco Fotografico" association in 1996, with which he presents various events.
Together with others, he designed "Estate in Villa", the 1997 series "Quetzalcóatl", in 1998 "Visione Zen" and also "On Voyage" are inspired by the great American photographer Lee Friedlander.
His 1998 work "Dream" is a tribute to cinematography, influenced by the works of Michelangelo Antonioni, François Roland Truffaut, Federico Fellini, Terrence Frederick Malick, Quentin Tarantino, Francis Ford Coppola and Bernardo Bertolucci.
He collaborates as a photographer with the magazine "Sposa Magazine".
Other works that followed drew inspiration from the greats of world photography: Sarah Moon, Masao Yamamoto, Peter Lindbergh, Ralph Gibson, Joel-Peter Witkin, Josef Koudelka, Mimmo Jodice.
He continued with various solo exhibitions and in 1999 opened a gallery studio in the province of Salerno, focusing on ceremonial photojournalism; he published various art calendars for the area.
He successfully dedicates himself to advertising and industrial photography.
Photographing in digital and other magazines in the sector publish his photos.
He is passionate about web design and the new opportunities the internet offers by combining classic photographic techniques with next-generation software.
Further research has continued over the years. In the portfolio section, the series to which the work belongs is indicated next to the title.
The cornerstone of his work is capturing unconventional images capable of awakening awareness with themes such as: reflection on the now dormant relationship with divinity, the nature that is within us but forgotten, diminished everyday affections, the alien gaze on what we want to call reality.
Immersion in a "dream" world can only benefit our being, lobotomized by ethical and economic values that do not belong to us, opening doors to other realities mistreated by modern society, but deserving of attention and dignity.
