PSI 2022 (by Dominio de Pingus) in English:
⸻
Description
• The wine is from the Ribera del Duero region of Spain, produced by Peter Sisseck’s project.
• Blend of approx. 90% Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) and 10% Garnacha (or sometimes 8‑12% Garnacha) depending on source.
• Vineyards: a mosaic of old‑vine plots across ~21 villages, altitude around 800‑900 m, calcareous soils.
• Vinification & ageing: Fermented in large concrete tanks, a portion (about 18 months) aged in second‑ or third‑year French oak barrels (or large vats/foudres) to preserve freshness and fine tannins while avoiding heavy new wood.
• Tasting profile: Clean, expressive and open; fruit‑driven with red and dark berries, subtle floral and herbal notes, fine tannins, good freshness and polish. One critic says it “feels like a step up from 2021.”
• Alcohol around 14% vol. (variously reported ~13.8‑14.5%).
