Description from the seller

Beautiful painting from my parents' estate, bought earlier at an art auction in Brussels. It hangs on the side with a label that has a name and a number on it, but I can't say that the number was the price at the auction—see the last photo.
Very old oil painting on canvas in a beautiful frame by the artist himself and original.
British artist Joseph Horlor 1809-1887
Frame dimensions 115cm x 79cm
Painting dimensions 102cm x 66.5cm
A gold plate on the front that is hand-signed in the lower left corner; see photos.
The painting is in excellent condition, with only slight craquelure visible in the photos, not throughout the painting and barely noticeable.
It might be that the canvas was renewed in the past, but I'm not sure; see the photos.
Transferring an old painting onto a new canvas, a technique that was widely used in the past in painting restoration.
In dyeing, the original, weakened fabric is completely replaced by a new fabric. This process is also known as 'doubleren.'
Kader is still in perfect condition, with only minimal damage to the frame that is barely visible. See photos.
Very beautiful old painting, see many photos.
Various paintings by this artist reach very high values.
