Original oil on canvas autumn forest landscape by Elsbeth Huther (1885–1960), titled Atmosphärische herbstliche Waldlandschaft, dated 1910–1920, Germany, in Expressionist style, signed E. Huther, framed and sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Oil on canvas with a moodful autumnal forest landscape.
Depicted is a light deciduous forest with warm yellow, ochre, and earth tones. The thick application of color and the lively brushwork give the work depth, texture, and an atmospheric light effect.
The painting is signed 'E. Huther' in the lower left and is attributed to Elsbeth Huther (1885–1960), a German portrait and landscape painter of the early 20th century. E. Huther studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, one of the first women to do so.
The artist's creative work was restricted during the period of National Socialism, which is why her works now rarely appear on the market.
The work is stylistically attributable to German landscape painting of the period around 1900–1930.
Oil on canvas, stretched on an original stretcher frame. The painting is offered with a period-appropriate frame.
Dimensions without frame: 46 x 35 cm.
A very decorative and collectible original painting with an authentic aura.
