Le village, an original oil painting on board by Antoine Ferrari (France), dating from 1950–1960, 45 × 68 cm, signed on the board, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Very beautiful painting by the very famous Marseille artist Antoine Ferrari (1910-1995).
The painting depicts a Provençal village. This oil on hardboard has some paint loss but remains in good condition.
Antoine Ferrari began painting in 1926 and moved to Paris in 1927, where he mingled with the Montparnasse painters. Ferrari was encouraged by Kees van Dongen and exhibited at the Salon d'automne starting in 1927. He received a grant from the City of Marseille in 1930 to study at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Throughout his career, he won several awards and regularly exhibited his works.
He created compositions for the 1937 Paris World's Fair.
He has exhibited in many cities and in many countries.
Today, some of these works are in museums, which shows the recognition of this artist.
