Description

Gillette Reflex Model 305 is a rare LED digital watch from the 1970s and a fascinating example of early experiments with electronic timekeeping. It is especially known for the 'Flick-of-the-Wrist' feature, where the red LED display is activated by a simple wrist movement – an innovative technology of its time.

Produced in 1976, the Reflex combines robust technology with unique design: a position sensor (steel ball that closes the contacts) activates the display at approximately 45° wrist tilt. The sensor can be deactivated if necessary. The module on ceramic substrate with Statek quartz movement is durable but requires careful handling, as battery leakage and wire damage can occur. The watch is anti-magnetic and shock-resistant, as engraved on the case back.

Historically, the Gillette Reflex is a rare historical record from the late era of LED watches. Gillette entered the LED market only in 1976, when LCD technology was already emerging, aiming at affordable high-end models. Compared to expensive Pulsar watches, the Reflex was cheaper but not produced in large quantities—making it particularly rare, especially complete with original box, strap, and manual.
