Girard-Perregaux vintage rectangular dresswatch for men in a gilt (20 micron) case with a gold dial, a hand-wound movement (Adolf Schild Cal. AS 1758), a leather strap of about 20 cm, 26 × 26 mm case, and a repainted dial with visible wear.
Description from the seller
Offered is a special and elegant vintage dress watch from Girard-Perregaux, one of the oldest and most respected Swiss watch brands, founded in 1791. Girard-Perregaux is known for its high-quality watches, refined finishing, and timeless designs, and enjoyed an excellent reputation among enthusiasts of classic, elegant watches in the first half of the 20th century.
Model & style
This watch features a rectangular case (26 × 26 mm), a style that was especially popular in the 1940s–1950s when geometric shapes and art deco influences found their way into elegant dress watches. Its compact size and clean lines make this watch a typical classic dress watch, subtle and refined, designed to be worn discreetly under a cuff.
The dial features Roman numerals and slender hands, giving the watch a formal and timeless appearance. The patina and overall look are consistent with the age of the watch. The dial may have been restored in the past; this is visible in the details of the printing. This does not detract from the character and wearability of the watch and is transparently disclosed.
