Description from the seller
This is a Japanese hanging flower vase (kake-hanaire) in Oribe ware style, titled “Oribe Hisago Hanging Flower Vase” (織部ひさご掛花生), made by Kojima Kaitarō (児島塊太郎) of Tenshi-gama (天子窯). The vessel features a traditional gourd-inspired form with a deep green Oribe glaze contrasting with the natural clay body.
The piece is accompanied by its original wooden storage box (共箱), cloth, and paper. There is slight surface dirt consistent with age, but no cracks or chips, and it remains fully usable. Suitable for tea ceremony use, ikebana, or tokonoma display, this work will appeal to collectors of Japanese tea ceramics and contemporary Oribe ware.
