-----------------------------------------------

Guillaume Catel, sometimes also called Guillaume de Catel, born in 1560 in Toulouse and died on October 5, 1626, in the same city, was a counselor at the Parliament of Toulouse. Like his father and grandfather before him, he was a magistrate and a scholar from Toulouse, often regarded as one of the first historians of Toulouse and Languedoc.

He also played an important role in the condemnation and execution of the libertine philosopher Giulio Cesare Vanini in Toulouse, on February 9, 1619.
