Description from the seller

STENDHAL
The Abbess of Castro
Paris, the members of the Academy of Fine Books, 1890

In-8 (26cm x 17.8cm) of 170-[2] pages. A non-commercial edition, printed in 160 signed copies.
Rigid parchment, smooth spine with painted title, pyroengraved and painted decorations and varnish adorning the covers, gilded head, covers preserved without the spine, case (Laballe).

Illustrated work with 13 etchings by Eugène Courboin, including 7 headpieces and 6 tailpieces, and 9 border strips in Art Nouveau style, in a tone repeated on each page.
One of the numbered copies, this one No. 122, printed for Mr. the Count of Pontavice de Heussey.

Small scuffs on the edges of the case, light transfers on the pages opposite the illustrations, otherwise a fine example.
