Rare wooden mask covered with red copper plates. The Lwalwa have produced very few masks of this type.
The Salampasu, south of the Lwalwa (Lwalu) region, have influenced recent generations through their creation of Mukinka warrior masks, which are sometimes covered with inlays of copper, brass, and/or aluminum.
On this mask, copper hooks connect the plates. The nails, also made of copper, around the eyes and on the chin, represent scarifications that identify the unity with its people... with its ethnicity.
