Exclusive Romantic Winter View after to Petrus Gerardus Vertin (1819-1893)
Subject: A lively winter town or village view with figures * The painting depicts a picturesque Dutch street with traditional brick and stepped gable houses, covered in a light layer of snow.
The attention to the reflection of light on the snow-covered roofs and the street is characteristic of Vertin's work.
A church tower is central to the composition, enhancing the depth and suggestion of a historic town.
The array of figures (people going about their daily activities, including a group of women in traditional dress) lends the scene a lively and authentic atmosphere.
Signature: Clearly signed in red oil paint, lower left: "P.G. Vertin" (see detail photo).
