夕土 (Yūdo) - Japanese for evening earth - is a large, meditative abstract painting that evokes the quiet heaviness of land at dusk. A deep green band anchors the lower edge of the canvas, while above it muted earth tones slowly dissolve into a softer, hazy field of colour. The image remains deliberately ambiguous: it can be read as a dark hillside, a distant treeline, or simply as a gradual sinking of light into soil.

The work is built from many thin washes of chromium oxide green, raw sienna and yellow ochre, allowing the pigments to sink into the weave of the canvas rather than form a thick surface. Subtle overlaps, soft transitions and small irregular marks remain visible, recording the movement of water, gravity and brush. These quiet imperfections reflect a wabi-sabi sensibility - an appreciation of patina, asymmetry and the calm beauty of things that feel weathered and time-worn.
