English trumeau in oak and mahogany dating to 1900–1910, with a glazed upper display and a lower fall-front desk on a solid oak frame, lockable and in good condition with minor wear; 210 cm high, 105 cm wide, 65 cm deep, originating from the United Kingdom, key missing.
Description from the seller
Elegant English trumeau made of oak and mahogany, divided into two distinct sections.
The upper part features a display cabinet with sober and balanced lines, enriched by mahogany glass trim, which creates a chromatic contrast and enhances the architectural character of the furniture.
The lower part consists of a front panel, supported by a solid oak frame that provides excellent stability to the whole.
By opening the drop-front, which is perfectly functional, you gain access to a retractable writing compartment via concealed brass handles. Inside there are holes for an inkwell and for fountain pens, a drawer without knobs of a somewhat secret nature, and six other drawers with bronze knobs; it should be noted that the leather top is missing.
The legs have a simple and sturdy shape, in keeping with English taste, while the bronze handles embellish the front. The piece is in good overall condition, with some damage and signs of wear on the sides and inside, clearly visible in the photographs. Drawer fittings, internal linings, and nailwork are original. Note the absence of the key.
