This vase is made by a workshop that is a purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency in Japan.
The translucent white porcelain piece features a striking red Mount Fuji set against a beautiful blue mountain range.
Mount Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan. Since ancient times, Japan has revered it as a sacred object.
Fukagawa Seiji is a historic porcelain manufacturer founded in 1894 (Meiji 27) in Arita, Saga Prefecture. They are a long-established producer of Arita ware, known for its translucent blue sometsuke (blue and white porcelain) known as "Fukagawa Blue" and gorgeous red-painted porcelain. The first Fukagawa Chuji established the "Fukagawa Style" by fusing Arita traditions with European technology, and received international acclaim, including a Gold Medal at the 1900 Paris World's Fair. The company was also known as a purveyor to the Imperial Household Agency, and today continues to produce "pottery that transcends time and nourishes the soul" to the world through its integrated production system.
The pottery is in excellent condition with no cracks, breaks or scratches.
