Born in 1926 near Honfleur, Jacques Bouyssou grew up in the world of Norman painters he has known since childhood. Trained at the Grande Chaumière, he developed a clear, sincere, and luminous style, inheriting from Boudin and the great masters of the coast. From the 1950s onwards, he exhibited in Paris, London, New York, and Tokyo, establishing a strong international career. Named Peintre Officiel de la Marine in 1973, he established himself as one of the great interpreters of ports, quays, and maritime life.
Bouyssou offers a readable, warm, and authentic work, highly sought after for its light and balance. Its stable market value, Norman roots, and status as a Peintre de la Marine make it a reliable asset in the market, ideal for enriching a regional or maritime collection.
