Description from the seller
Konjō-gama (根性窯) Folk Craft (Mingei) Guinomi Set – Late Shōwa Period
This is a rare and compelling set of five handcrafted Guinomi (traditional Japanese sake cups) from the Konjō-gama (Konjo Kiln), a small, individual workshop located in Misato Town, northern Miyazaki Prefecture. These cups embody the spirit of the Japanese Mingei (Folk Craft) movement, emphasizing natural beauty and utility.
Distinct Regional Craftsmanship: Originating from a private mountain kiln (Yama-gama), the set reflects the rustic, unpretentious quality cherished in regional ceramics.
Late Shōwa Period: Believed to be from the Late Shōwa Period (mid-1960s to 1989), these pieces offer a glimpse into the era's revitalization of folk arts.
Diverse Glazes & Textures: The set showcases five distinctly different cups, each with a unique glaze and texture, including speckled Shino-style, warm yellow-ochre, rich green, high-gloss black/brown, and rustic white/cream.
Wabi-Sabi Aesthetic: These cups are designed to increase in value and beauty with use ("tsukaikomu hodo kachi ga agaru"), as the natural oils from the hands and sake deepen the color and patina—a core concept of wabi-sabi and Mingei.
Dimensions: Each cup is approximately 6 cm in diameter and 4.5 cm in height.
Presentation: The set comes housed in its original, tall wooden storage box featuring calligraphic inscriptions (likely the kiln or potter's name).
A superb, authentic set for collectors interested in the rustic beauty and history of Japanese Folk Ceramics.

The item will be carefully packaged and shipped with tracking. International shipping is available. Delivery times may vary depending on the destination country.
