ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Marilyn Monroe captures the paradox of an icon suspended between light and fragility. The smile is radiant, almost disarming, yet beneath it lies tension — a carefully constructed image facing the weight of its own myth.
The composition isolates the face, amplifying its emotional impact. The stencil cuts sculpt the features with precision, fragmenting light and shadow to create a vibrating surface. Each layer reveals both glamour and vulnerability, turning the portrait into a psychological landscape rather than a simple likeness.
Warm pink and orange tones dominate the background, evoking seduction, fame, and Hollywood’s artificial glow. These colors clash subtly with the stark black-and-white stencil, reinforcing the contrast between the public icon and the private woman.
This work does not glorify celebrity — it questions it. The smile becomes a mask, beauty a symbol, and the figure a timeless reflection on desire, exposure, and the cost of immortality in popular culture.
A powerful statement piece for collectors drawn to iconic imagery reinterpreted with depth, tension, and contemporary relevance.
About the artist
I am a French stencil artist whose work explores contrast — between instinct and precision, chaos and control, heritage and contemporary expression. My practice combines spontaneous, textured backgrounds with meticulously hand-cut multi-layer stencils.
I have exhibited alongside major figures of the urban art scene such as L’Atlas, C215, Carole B, Wawapod, and Jo Di Bona at the SPERA ART FAIR.
My work has been collected throughout Europe, with more than 300 artworks sold internationally.
I also create live painting performances for major institutions and brands, including Disneyland Paris.
Each artwork is a unique original. While stencils may be reused, every background is created instinctively, ensuring that no two works are ever identical. My approach revisits iconic figures and powerful symbols through tension, restraint, and emotional depth rather than simple representation.
