Description from the seller
MiLo – “Displaced Field”
A work by Amsterdam-based artist MiLo (1976).
Displaced Field is a restrained abstract composition built around order and subtle imbalance. A pale grid-like structure spans the surface, within which muted rectangular fields appear unevenly positioned, creating a quiet sense of displacement within an otherwise measured system.
Scratched markings, softened overlays, and incidental traces give the surface a worn, almost geological character, suggesting a field that has been reworked over time. The composition reads simultaneously as a mapped surface, a constructed register, and a disrupted spatial plan—open to interpretation while remaining formally controlled.
Executed in matte acrylic with drawn and scratched elements, the painting balances precision with erosion, allowing structure and deviation to coexist.
The painting can be hung in any orientation (portrait, landscape, or rotated), allowing the relationships within the composition to shift with its presentation.
The painting will be rolled up and shipped in a sturdy tube or box, without frame, and includes a signed certificate of authenticity.

About the artist
MiLo (1976) is an Amsterdam-based artist with a background in photography and art studies. Over the years he has sold more than 800 original works, now residing in private collections, hotels, restaurants, and offices across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
His practice spans from early Pollock-inspired action paintings to precise geometric compositions, and to the layered, scratched surfaces he often explores today.
In his current work, MiLo investigates the tension between construction and erosion, layering and scraping the painted surface until traces emerge. These may recall urban structures, geological strata, or remnants of thought — yet the imagery is never fixed. Each canvas evolves through process and chance, allowing multiple interpretations to surface beyond any single theme.
Each work forms part of an ongoing exploration of abstraction, memory, and transformation, making MiLo one of the most prolific and recognizable contemporary artists on Catawiki.
