This specimen is an acondrite meteorite from the Angrita group, officially classified as Rafsa 007, found in the Tinduf region, Algeria, in 2023. It is not an observed fall but a field find, and it is registered and approved in the Meteoritical Bulletin, confirming its scientific authenticity.
The meteorite is composed of an ultramafic differentiated igneous rock, with a well-defined granular texture, mainly formed by calcium-rich olivine, pyroxene (diospide), chromium-rich spinel, and anorthite. This mineral composition is characteristic of angrites, one of the rarest and oldest groups of known meteorites, formed from evolved magmas in a primitive planetary body.
The surface displays dark shades, ranging from brown to black, with moderate soil alteration visible as reddish-brown spots. The texture is rough and heterogeneous, with evident natural fractures, angular edges, and small surface fissures.
No visible fusion crust is preserved, a circumstance attributed to natural erosion following the fall, common in desert finds of this type.
