Description from the seller
Complete works by Ivan Andreyevich Krylov (Полное собрание сочинений И. Крылова)
With a biography written by I. A. Pletnev
Complete in three volumes
The Complete Works of Ivan A. Krylov offer an overview of one of the most popular authors in Russian literature. The volume brings together his fables, as well as other texts in verse and prose, which secured his fame. Inspired by both the Aesopian tradition and Russian reality, Krylov's fables are distinguished by their narrative liveliness, biting humor, and moral significance.
Pletnev's biography sheds light on the writer's personal and intellectual journey, tracing his literary development and his integration into the cultural life of his time in Russia. It provides a better understanding of the genesis of his work and the originality of his view of society. This carefully crafted and ambitious 1847 edition reflects the institutional recognition of Krylov in the 19th century and remains a reference for the study of his literary legacy.
