Antique brass-finished metal chandelier with a satinised/opaline glass diffuser and four curved arms, Liberty/Art Nouveau style, made in Italy in the early 1900s, about 60 cm diameter and 80 cm tall, in good condition with normal signs of aging and an electrical system to be revised.
Description from the seller
An elegant, valuable period chandelier dating back to the very early 1900s and a perfect expression of the Art Nouveau style, known in Italy as Liberty style. This high-quality piece, typical of the refined Italian decorative art of the early 20th century, features sinuous lines, floral details, and a harmonious composition that combines functionality and ornamentation, perfectly in keeping with the Liberty aesthetic.
The metal frame with a brass finish is richly crafted with scroll and vegetal curlicues, an iconic element of Art Nouveau, where the decoration draws inspiration from the natural world through soft, continuous forms. The central body is completed by a large frosted glass diffuser and four curved arms with decorative lamp holders.
The opaline/satin glass lampshades are corolla-shaped, reminiscent of delicate open flowers: a detail strongly linked to the poetic Art Nouveau style, which favors floral themes and the idea of organic lightness. The overall effect produces a warm, dramatic light, making this chandelier a key feature in period settings, historic homes, Art Nouveau living rooms, entryways, or rooms with classic furnishings, but also in contemporary interiors seeking a focal point of character and authenticity.
Distinctive Art Nouveau / Liberty elements
• Curvilinear arms with a fluid and harmonious shape
• Decorative motifs with vegetal scrolls
• Flower-shaped glass lampshades (corolla), typical of the Liberty style
• Elegant and vertical composition with refined metalwork
Italy, early 1900s (circa 1900–1915)
Brass finish metal, satin/opal glass
Good overall condition, with normal signs of aging consistent with age. Pleasant and consistent patina. No visible cracks in the glass shown in the photographs. Electrical system overhaul recommended, in accordance with the regulations of the country of destination.
Electrical system to be overhauled, some wires are damaged.
• Diameter: about 60 cm
• Height: about 80 cm
• Number of lights: 4
