Renaissance edition with an engraved frontispiece.
A beautiful religious work printed in 1597, in Latin, dedicated to Cardinal Giacomo Sabelli, Bishop of Porto and Santa Rufina, a central figure of the Roman Church of the period.
The book presents a remarkable engraved frontispiece, richly decorated with allegorical figures, classical architectural elements, and Christian iconography, typical of the artistic production of the Italian Late Renaissance.
The edition was issued under the authority and privilege of Giovanni Battista de’ Cavalieri, a renowned Roman engraver and editor of the sixteenth century, responsible for numerous works of great artistic and historical value.
