Description from the seller
Hermès – Silk square scarf "The Arms of Paris" – Original edition 1954
The copy offered here is an original edition from the 1950s (the period 1954–1959), and not a modern reissue.
Hermès silk twill scarf, printed, iconic pattern 'The Arms of Paris', designed by Hugo Grygkar and first issued in 1954.
This square draws inspiration from the historical emblems of the City of Paris and its Latin motto Fluctuat nec mergitur ('Tossed by the waves but does not sink'). It belongs to the great tradition of post-war Hermès carré (square scarves), a period during which the house developed creations with strong cultural and patrimonial value, blending French heritage, heraldic art, and drawing excellence.
This is an early edition from the 1950s, identifiable by the signature “Hermès Paris” without copyright, characteristic of Hermès’s early productions and predating later reissues.

State
Very good vintage condition for its age.
Presence of a light, even patina on the light background, as well as a tiny, discreet trace.
