2018 Cappella Sant’Andrea ‘Prima Luce’ - Tuscany Riserva - 12 Bottles (0.75L)

This wine is made from the very best organically produced and hand-selected Vernaccia grapes of the vintage in question. This wine has the exceptional aging potential for which top Vernaccia is known. Depth and complexity are the hallmarks of this pure example of fine Vernaccia. The vineyards are full of fossils you might expect to find on the seabed. The soil is also rich in calcareous clay, which is responsible for the wine's wonderful minerality. Since this year, the wine has been aged for one year in large amphora (clay) jars, as has been customary throughout the centuries, instead of oak aging. High potential, young, flint, volcanic notes, clean, spicy, intense, mineral, round, creamy, beautiful bitterness, and a long finish are key words from my tasting notes. Production is around 2,500 bottles per year. Principled, ethical, self-sufficient, agricultural, organic farming and vinification methods, indigenous yeasts.
