AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Giustiniani Manufacture, Naples, 19th century. Neoclassical earthenware teapot with a handle and spout fashioned in the shapes of a salamander and a toad.
Lid knob in the shape of Anubis’s dog head. Body with decoration 'Retour d'Egypte'. The maker's mark in recessed cursive at the base.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century, in Naples, there is a blending between the formal and decorative repertoire of archaeological origin due to the excavations at Herculaneum and Pompeii in the eighteenth century and the 'Retour d'Égypte' fashion that spread across Europe after the Egyptian Campaign (1799/1801) of General Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon's rise leads in 1807 to the appointment of his brother Joseph Bonaparte as King of Naples.

It has a few chips as shown in the photo.
