Description from the seller
This atmospheric suggestive work from 2026 is not framed but is equipped with a hanging system. This piece is inspired by a still from the film 'The Trouble with Harry' by Alfred Hitchcock. The depicted frame indicates when it is framed. The work is shipped via registered mail and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. More information about the artist can be found on his website: www.heersema.com. Bert Heersema lives and works in Zwolle, Netherlands.
By staying away from the actual reality around us, I try to evoke a nostalgic atmosphere. Atmosphere and space, which are not defined by various realistic details but rather by simplicity, often a sober color palette, where a specific color accent draws all attention. Recurring visual features, such as shadows, volumes, accent colors, strong contrast, nostalgia, and humor, are important recognizable aspects in my work, increasingly playing a role in evoking emotions. Through technique, there is a search—various techniques are explored to test the boundaries of recognizability (realism), with movie stills from old films (Film Noir) and vintage documentary material serving as significant sources of inspiration and a starting point for initial designs. And without losing recognizability and realism, the work must primarily be a beautifully painted piece, for the viewer's experience and distance.
