Description from the seller

18th Century French Faience Wall Vase – Blue and White Décor

This exquisite 18th-century French faience wall vase is a fine example of traditional craftsmanship, inspired by the iconic blue and white ceramic style. With its half-moon shape, scalloped rim, and pastoral hand-painted motif, it blends decorative elegance with historical character.

The surface is adorned with a vivid blue floral pattern framing a central scene of a peasant figure, rendered in delicate brushwork. Rocaille-style side handles and ornamental shell details enhance its sculptural presence. Originally intended to hang on a wall, the vase features two small holes at the back for mounting.

It measures approximately 14.5 cm (5.7 in) in height, 23.5 cm (9.3 in) in width, and 10.5 cm (4.1 in) in depth. Crafted from glazed earthenware, the piece shows expected signs of age, including glaze chips along the rim and foot, and visible wear on the reverse, consistent with centuries of use.

A beautiful collector’s item for lovers of antique French ceramics, this faience wall vase captures the rustic charm and artistry of 18th-century provincial craftsmanship—perfect for display in a period interior or curated collection.
