柔砂 (Nyūsa) - Japanese for soft sand - is a large, atmospheric painting that explores the quiet warmth of an abstracted landscape. A luminous, pale band runs horizontally through the centre of the canvas, held between deeper earth tones above and below. This gentle division suggests a shoreline, a distant horizon or light resting on sand, without ever fixing into a literal scene.

The surface is built from many thin washes of yellow ochre and raw sienna, allowing the pigments to sink into the weave of the canvas. Subtle overlaps, soft gradients and small irregularities remain visible, like traces left by wind across a dune.
