Madior Dieng, the architect of colors

Originally from Dakar, Madior Dieng is a painter whose universe explodes with colors and tangled forms, alive with energy and movement. His journey, marked by a deep attachment to his Senegalese roots and an insatiable curiosity about the world, led him to travel across Europe before settling in Belgium. For a few years now, he has been thriving between Brussels, where he opened a studio, and Dinant, where he finds the calm necessary for his creative process.

His work rests on a true alchemy of colors. To him, they are not mere hues, but a living material, a powerful language that conveys the rhythm, emotion, and depth of the moment. He does not simply apply them: he sculpts them, blends them, makes them vibrate until they reveal their own light. In his Dinant workshop, each canvas is an immersion into a world where pigments respond to one another and dialogue in a subtle, balancing harmony.

At first glance, his works seem abstract, made of intertwinings and repetitive motifs – dots, diamonds, endless curves – that fit together with an almost organic precision. But when you linger, fragments of reality emerge: a sketched silhouette, a concealed gaze, a symbol steeped in history. His art is an invitation to look beyond appearances, to explore the invisible layers of a universe rich in meaning.

Each canvas demands time, sometimes several months, as Madior is so meticulous in his approach. He juggles between several works at once, diving into color as into an inner journey. “When I paint, I lose all sense of time. It’s a crossing, a state of weightlessness where I dialogue with my pigments.”

Today, his work shines far beyond his studio. His creations, which draw on his heritage while embracing multiple influences, are exhibited in several galleries in Belgium. His ambition? To take those who view his canvases on a journey as much as he travels through them himself.
