Created in 1963, V.E.P. Chartreuse is produced like classic Yellow and Green Chartreuse but benefits from extended aging in demi-muids—smaller than the large casks used for the other varieties—made of oak, which gives it added complexity. The V.E.P. bottle is based on the design of the first known Chartreuse bottle, dating from 1840. The Green Chartreuse has an ABV of 54% and the Yellow Chartreuse 42%. The vintage or bottling year designations have varied over the years; today, it is the bottling year that is indicated. In this case, it is 1975.
