Description from the seller
This work has been carried out without the use of artificial intelligence.
Rococo is a staged artistic photograph inspired by the iconic figure of Marie Antoinette, proposing a contemporary reinterpretation of the opulence, excess, and hedonism of the eighteenth century. The work combines historical references with a pop irreverence, transforming a symbol of aristocratic power into a playful and provocative image.
The elaborate period dress, the powdered wig, and the delicate lace immediately recall the aesthetics of the French court and the theatrical refinement of the Rococo. However, the unexpected gesture of the heart-shaped candy brought to the lips breaks the solemnity of the portrait and creates a visual tension between protocol and desire, duty and indulgence.
More than faithfully reconstructing a historical image, the work reflects on the theatricality of power and its close relationship with representation and spectacle. By blending Rococo elements with a contemporary visual language, Rococo invites the viewer to question how concepts such as luxury, femininity, and authority are constructed and consumed.
