--------------------
Created in 2012, the Monkey Bird Crew (MBC) collective is formed by two young artists from Bordeaux, Temor and Blow the Bird (or The Blow). Louis and Edouard, two friends and street artists working together, express themselves with a single stroke. Monkeys, birds, landscapes, citadels, and symbols are elevated by the black, white, and gold lines drawn by the duo. A philosophical fable that poetically and sensitively speaks about humans and the world.
Recognized stencil artists for the precision of their line work and the finesse of their cutting, all done by hand, they specialize in representations of metaphysical architectures where the Bird ('Blow') and the Monkey ('Temor') coexist.
Drawing inspiration from geometry, mechanics, cosmology, and astronomy treatises, they develop their work using all kinds of mediums and supports, also incorporating illumination and calligraphy. Furthermore, they are obsessed with reintroducing animal presence on city walls. These animals, not so different from those in La Fontaine's famous fables, mischievously remind us of our own human concerns, caught halfway between the desire for freedom and elevation (symbolized by the Bird) and the material and bodily obsessions from which man cannot free himself (the Monkey).
If they invest in the walls of cities (Paris where they live, Lille, Bordeaux, but also Amsterdam, New Delhi, and several cities in Mexico), they also produce works on various reclaimed materials (wood, metal, glass) and on paper.
