Filthy bastards is a 2025 original acrylic painting in Neo-Expressionism, 30 by 30 cm, hand-signed, from the Netherlands, with a yellow and multicoloured palette, sold directly from the artist.
Description from the seller
My filthy bastards, Saint and Sinner, my guardian angels. Inspired by the Chinese Foo dogs. Protectors and gatekeepers. For me, they represent good and evil.
The balance between good and evil is a complex dance, a dance that reveals their inseparable connection. We all possess both light and darkness within ourselves, a universal truth often hidden by pride and stubbornness. It is a paradox where one can be an angel yet not entirely, and this contradiction illustrates the countless perspectives of life. When viewed through different lenses, people, moments, and experiences shine in diverse hues.
In my journey, I've worn the label of both 'bad guy' and 'black sheep' for some time. This distinction set me apart, making me a target for criticism due to choices that I've made. Reflecting on a life marked by moments of rebellion, I now realize that every individual is engaged in their own journey. Blaming others is often a way to mask our own perceived inadequacies.
Society's tendency to compare is complex. We desire differentiation but shy away from standing out too boldly. We are seeking balance between our own dualities. Embracing both good and bad elements enables equilibrium, acknowledging that life is woven with threads of injustice. This acceptance doesn't endorse wrongdoing; rather, it acknowledges the cyclical nature of existence.
Defining someone is a nuanced endeavor, riddled with the hypocrisy of oversimplification. Like yin and yang, the harmony of opposing forces, I recognize the need for both within my life to find true balance.
