Superb antique carved and leaf-gilded frame – Vine and grape motifs – Neo-Baroque Napoleon III style, 19th century

An imposing and richly rectangular wooden frame, molded and carved, entirely covered with old gold leaf gilding, with a beautiful warm patina.

This opulent model, typical of the bourgeois taste of the Second Empire, features a naturalist and Baroque Revival decor:
Large upper and side frieze adorned with vine scrolls, clusters of grapes, and stylized leaves in high relief.
Ornamented corners with fruit bouquets and acanthus leaves.
Inner beaded trim and accentuated mouldings to create a sense of depth.
A symmetrical and ornate ensemble, evoking the large frames for pompier paintings or still lifes.

The antique gilding shows an authentic patina with normal wear (a few cracks, older repairs, small localized losses on the most pronounced reliefs), but it retains excellent luster and a strong decorative presence. Solid structure, no major damage.

Condition: Good to very good for its age – patinated gilding, excellent stability, ideal for light restoration if desired.
