Wassily Kandinsky, born in 1866 in Moscow,
Rusland was a groundbreaking artist and one of the leading figures in abstract art.
Kandinsky initially studied law and
economy, but his passion for art led him to painting, which eventually made him a key figure in the development of modern art. He is especially known for his contributions to abstract art, in which he tried to convey emotion and spirituality through color, form and composition, and broke away from traditional representational art.
Kandinsky was closely involved with the Bauhaus, a revolutionary art and design school in Germany, where he taught from 1922 to 1933. At the Bauhaus, Kandinsky developed his theories about art and abstraction, and he influenced generations of artists and designers.
