A lot of five historic lottery tickets: three Merano Grand Prix tickets from 1937 and two Tripoli lottery tickets from 1938, all in very good condition.
Description from the seller
3 tickets of the National Horse Lottery Grand Prize of Merano, 1937. 2 tickets of the Tripoli Lottery, 1938. All the tickets are in excellent condition. In 1935, with the construction of the racecourse, which we can date as the start of Merano's modern horse racing tradition and the attribution to the facility of the specialization of a track predominantly destined for hurdle races, albeit with a strong inclination also for flat races.
Coinciding with the construction of the facility and the first edition of the Grand Prix, the Merano Lottery was established, which, among the few national lotteries, had the largest endowment.
The Merano Grand Prix contributed notably to spreading the name of the city and its racetrack both nationally and internationally. It is a Grand Prix with great tradition and prestige. The Tripoli Lottery was introduced in 1933, about twenty years after the Italian occupation of Libya. Originally organized by the Tripoli Automobile Club, its management passed in 1936 to the Lottery Department of the Ministry of Finance. This lottery represents a significant historical moment, marking the beginning of the current system of national lotteries run by the Italian state. The Tripoli Lottery was closely tied to the atmosphere of the Italian colonial adventure.
