Two-piece collection from the Royal Netherlands Air Force, comprising a hand-painted Delft Blue commemorative plate (diameter 20 cm) by Old Dutch Ceramics and a silver-plated metal commemorative ballpoint pen, both original from 1970 and originating in the Netherlands, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Beautiful collector's lot from the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (Royal Netherlands Air Force), consisting of:
Commemorative plate of the "Luchtmacht Stafschool": Hand-painted ceramic by Old Dutch Ceramics (Gouda, Netherlands) in Delft Blue style. Diameter 20 cm.
This piece was not intended for commercial sale, but was produced on a made-to-order basis (Made to order) for the Air Force Staff School (Staff College of the Royal Netherlands Air Force) of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu).
Main subject: Official emblem of the Air Force General Staff School, depicting an eagle with a torch (symbol of wisdom) and the Latin motto "Ab Origine Flexibilis".
Decoration: Classic Delft-style floral border, entirely handmade as certified by the mark on the back.
Era: the second half of the 20th century (Cold War period).
No chips or obvious restorations are noticeable. Perfect. The General Staff School (LSS) ceased its independent operation in 2005, making these relics increasingly rare on the market. The back features the original factory holes for wall mounting.
Excellent condition with natural craquelure due to age, which certifies its originality.
Commemorative ballpoint pen: It bears the inscription 'Vliegbasis Volkel', founded by the Germans during World War II; today it is one of NATO's most important operational air bases. In silvered metal with gold finishes, elegant and in excellent condition. Fully functional, the internal refill has been replaced, but the original, with its various codes, will be an integral part of the packaging.
Packaging intact and original.
Both pieces represent a snapshot of history concerning the Cold War and were created to be unique, dedicated to an officer of the Royal Netherlands Air Force.
A perfect set for aviation collectors, NATO history, and traditional Dutch ceramics.
The shipping cost includes shock-absorbing packaging.
