Valentin Prévot's work is realistic and figurative. Through his drawings and paintings, he engages in a political and identity research process about his history and that of his family. His current artistic work aims to pay tribute to him but also to ensure his ideas and his journey endure, anchoring them in time.
Using portraits, paintings/drawings, and a desire to understand and make this history one's own, Valentin has been working for several months on a series of 'graphic objects' and installations aimed at complementing this archive, adding his perspective, sensitivity, and voice as an artist.
Some of his works are inspired by Schiele, Kokoschka, but also by German expressionists like Dix and Grosz. The central themes of his work revolve around questions of transmission and intergenerational trauma. Valentin understood that through this story, he could address all the topics that personally matter to him, such as questions of identity, research and transmission work, and ideological, philosophical, and political excesses.
