Antique Impero-style dormeuse from 1850–1900, in solid wood with upholstered yellow damask fabric, measuring 244 cm wide, 104 cm high and 65 cm deep, in good used condition with minor signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Antique daybed in Empire style
An important Empire-era chaise longue dating from the mid-19th century, characterized by an elegant, slender line typical of neoclassical taste. The solid hardwood frame features a sinuous profile with an asymmetrical backrest in a double volute, harmoniously connected to the shaped armrests. The front legs are curved and flared, while the rear legs are set further back, giving the piece a dynamic and refined stance.
The front is embellished with finely chased gilded-bronze decorative appliques, arranged along the lower band and at the points where the structural junctions meet. The daybed is upholstered in yellow damask fabric with garland motifs and small floral elements, in keeping with the era's ornamental repertoire, and is completed by two coordinated cylindrical side cushions. The overall piece expresses great formal balance and quality of construction, making it ideal for classic interiors, formal reception rooms, or collections of period furniture.
Dimensions:
Height: 104 cm
Width: 244 cm
Depth: 65cm
