A Roman gold lunula pendant from the period,
dating to the 3rd-4th century. Century Ad.
This exquisite piece features filigree scrollwork and applied gold beads in the shape of grapes
At its centre lies an almandine garnet cabochon, set in a closed setting, showcasing a distinctive dark red cabochon garnet.

Object Crescent (plural: lunulae)pendant.

Measurements:38x35mm.

Lunula pendants were pieces of jewellery modelled in the shape of a crescent moon, worn in Ancient Greece and Rome as protection against evil and to attract good fortune. These lunar motifs became very popular in Greek and Roman jewellery throughout the entire Roman Empire.
