About the author: Ken Damy (1949 - ) was born in 1949 in Orzinuovi, Brescia. Graduated from the art institute, the first exhibition is a "painting" made of collages and overlapping white papers. In 1966 he developed as a graphic designer in the Studio Saladini advertising agency. At 17, photography was his second passion, preferably in the theater, and the first exhibitions organized were street exhibitions. In 1969 he helped found the experimental Teatro group, also with the role of set designer and choreographer. At just 20 years old he decided to start his own business and in September 1969 the Ken Damy studio, dedicated to graphics and advertising photography, was founded in Brescia. In 1974 he participated in the opening of the Image Gallery within the Brescian Artists Association (AAB), also in Brescia, becoming one of its two directors. In 1982 the gallery became Ken Damy Photogallery and Ken Damy threw himself headlong into creative photography. In 1983/1984 he accepted the position at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino; in the following years he also taught in the Academies of Bologna, Venice and Milan, where he still teaches. In 1985 he inaugurated the Ken Damy Photogallery in Milan and in 1986 also in Rome, the latter gallery which he moved to Urbino in 1987; also in the same year he began collaborating with Zoom Italia. In 1990 the Ken Damy Museum of contemporary photography opened in Brescia. Large themed exhibitions and unpublished solo exhibitions by mostly foreign authors are organized here. In 1992 the museum became a cultural association with more than 300 members. In 1993 Damy organized the Ken Damy Museum's International Photography Academy which he still directs.
