A uniform field of deep vivid blue serves as the starting point for this piece, but VANTA has then employed multiple techniques to remove paint and reveal intricate abstract patterns across the surface. The removal process creates lighter blue passages that wind and intersect throughout the darker ground, suggesting pathways, currents, or organic growth patterns that emerge from the saturated blue field.

The techniques used leave different signatures - some areas show clean scraping, others reveal softer wiping, while additional methods create varied textures and edges throughout the composition. Represented by S-Gallery and available on Catawiki, this piece demonstrates how subtraction can be as expressive as addition. Those lighter areas where paint has been removed don’t read as empty space but as active elements with their own visual presence.

The substantial format gives these meandering forms room to develop complexity. They branch and reconnect, creating a network of lighter passages against the deep blue that draws the eye through the composition in multiple directions.
